Three Breakers

(translated by Alexandra Zelman-Doring)

I.

Through your night: an electric scent
& ionized moisture;
the horizon induced, incandescent.
In your head: muscles telegraph, spring
to attention. Language soaked through
gusts and promise;
lightnings discharge, verse thunders

II.

Minimize resistance;
conduct like an antenna;
grant angels power of attorney.
Keep a faulty resistor at heart, then
messages will flicker
flares buzz
sparks dictate

III.

Why would poetry look to us
for earthing? Only language pulls it
down
under the weight of our teeming stares
charged by our words-on-end
goosebumps
of our contact
